There are many institutes supporting innovativeness in the region, such as: The Centre of Technology Transfer of the Krakow Polytechnics, the Centre of Innovativeness, Technology Transfer and Development of the Jagiellonian University (CIITTRU UJ), Jagiellońskie Centrum Innowacji Sp. z o.o.(JCI) and Krakowski Park Technologiczny Sp. z o.o.
The Małopolska Region has a huge scientific and research potential of the Krakow’s universities and scientific centres in such fields like: biotechnology, computer science, product quality and competitiveness, environmental development and protection in the context of balanced development, nanotechnology, new technologies in medicine and renewable sources of energy. Expenditure on research and development activity in Małopolska has an upward tendency and gives the voivodeship the third rank on the national scale.
